Glass has a flexible, easy to use restricted list manager. There are three types of restriction classifications:

  • Allowed - the user will submit a trade for pre-clearance, but the transaction will be automatically approved
  • Approval Required - a task is generated for the admin(s) to review and approve/deny the trading request
  • Blocked - The user is unable to enter a request for the security

Quick Note about Options

Glass automatically adds the restriction type given to the equity for all option chains. As an example, if the admin set the restriction type for Apple to blocked, all underlying Apple options would also be blocked.

Default Restriction Type

The first step is to set the default restriction on a security. The default restriction will apply to all securities that have not been configured by the admin(s). Click here to find out more about configuring your default restriction type.

Managing the Restricted List

Glass's restricted list can be configured in a variety of ways, from simple to complex. An admin can add any combination of restriction types via the user interface or through upload. To learn more about restricted list management, click here

Below are a few common scenarios with a summary on configuration within Glass:

  • I want to upload a list of securities that are blocked, but everything else is ok and shouldn't require compliance approval
    • Set the default restriction to allowed
    • Enter securities or upload with the restriction type blocked via the restricted securities page

  • I want to upload a list of securities that are allowed, but everything else requires pre-clearance from an admin
    • Set the default restriction to approval required
    • Enter securities or upload with the restriction type allowed via the restricted securities page

  • I want to upload securities that are allowed, another list that are blocked, but everything else requires pre-clearance from an admin
    • Set the default restriction to approval required
    • Enter or upload the first list with the restriction type allowed via the restricted securities page
    • Enter or upload the first list with the restriction type blocked via the restricted securities page
